There is no villain in Dabi My Hero Academia. The anime’s primary focus is on the universe’s heroes, but as these nascent heroes become stronger and learn more about themselves, the series has steadily introduced various organizations of powerful villains that easily challenge the most prolific heroes.
There have always been great villains on My Hero Academia, but adversaries like All For One and this season’s new nemesis, Overhaul, have been terrifying in unexpected ways. As the protagonists in the program grow and mature, the villains launch increasingly personal attacks with no remorse. It will be difficult to top Overhaul’s twisted methods, but the conclusion of My Hero Academia season 4 hints at who will be a major threat next season.
The season’s penultimate episode reveals that Dabi is the one who sends forth the bio-engineered Nomu to wage war against Endeavor, but he’s also a member of Shigaraki’s team of criminals who hijack Chisaki and ultimately erase him from ever being a threat again in the future.
Both of these significant events remain unanswered when the fourth season of My Hero Academia concludes, and Dabi hasn’t made a major appearance in a long time. With it evident that Dabi will play a significant role in the upcoming season of My Hero Academia, there’s never been a better moment to review who this enigmatic enemy is.

What Is Dabi’s Name?
Dabi first appears at the end of My Hero Academia season 2 as one of the potential recruits for the League of Villains who is inspired by the Hero Killer “Stain’s” actions. However, it is not until the third-season episode “My Hero” that Dabi truly enters the picture. When Dabi attacks with the Vanguard Action Squad of the League of Villains, U.A. High students are undergoing a training boot camp in the forest. Dabi holds his own against Aizawa, and he plays a role in Bakugo’s kidnapping.
During his initial contact with Shigaraki, Dabi discloses that “Dabi” is not his true name, but rather the alias under which he is now functioning. He’s a more stoic person, but he has raging wrath deep within. Dabi’s body is also covered in scars, which are most likely caused by his quirk’s excessive temperature. Endeavor and Shoto have both expressed suffering as a result of their attempts to achieve higher levels of power in their fire Quirks, and it appears that Dabi’s body has paid the price for this power.
What Is Dabi’s Weirdness?
Dabi is a character who possesses a fire-related Quirk known as “Cremation,” which is a very strong explosion of flames. Dabi isn’t the only character with a fire Quirk, but Dabi’s flames are blue, indicating a considerably higher level of power and temperature.
Dabi has the ability to incinerate anything he touches, but he frequently uses this ability to overwhelm an entire area. In his first significant appearance, he touches a single tree and transforms the entire forest into an inferno. He’s also played the same ruse on other villains. Dabi excels at long-range combat, but due to the intensity of his heat, he must keep his fights brief.
What Is Dabi Up To?
Dabi is consistently shown to have hopes for the League of Villains and what it can accomplish. Dabi and Himiko Toga are the original Vanguard Action Squad recruits, and along with Mr. Compress and Twice, they are easily the strongest.
Dabi attempted to rebuild a stronger version of the League of Villains after the fall of All For One, but no one was able to meet his high expectations. Dabi, like Stain, appears content to merely create chaos and undermine the heroes’ carefully cultivated image of serenity.
This extends to his most recent act, which was to target Endeavor in a very public display in the season finale of the show. Dabi’s stunt was a failure, so he’ll most likely lash out even harder at Endeavor in the future.
What Is Dabi’s Relationship To Endeavor?
According to common belief, Dabi is the estranged elder sibling of the Todoroki family, Toya, making him not just Endeavor’s son, but also Shoto’s brother. This is truly fascinating stuff to investigate, as no heroes have before been linked to a villain in this capacity. It’d also be a powerful method to bring Endeavor and Shoto together.
The series has made it plain that Endeavor was inattentive to his family, and it’s easy to imagine Dabi taking things personally and being sucked in by the manipulative League of Villains. The biggest giveaway here is that Dabi’s Quirk is tied to fire, just as Endeavor and other of the Todoroki family members. Dabi, in particular, possesses blue flames, which appear to be something reserved for Endeavor.
Furthermore, a big point in the current My Hero Academia manga season finale that followers of the My Hero Academia manga were anticipating is a confrontation between Dabi and Endeavor following Dabi’s defeat of the Nomu. The brief conflict merely adds fuel to the fire between Dabi and Endeavor, implying that these two are far from done with one other.
Dabi may still respond to Shigaraki on some level, but unlike Shigaraki, who has much bigger aims, it appears that Dabi has his eyes set on an act of personal revenge against the world’s new Number One Hero. This would absolutely make sense if Dabi and Endeavor are related by blood.
The full breadth of Dabi’s strategy and how prominent he will be in the anime’s fifth season are unknown, but he should make for a captivating villain as he finally gets his moment in the spotlight.
